Fantasy Football Week 7 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Running Backs

By Matthew Brosnan.

Start 'em:

David Johnson

Houston Texans vs Green Bay Packers

This is a matchup of two teams who desperately struggle against the run. The Texans have given up the most Fantasy points to running backs this season and the Packers have given up the 2nd most points to running backs. Green Bay allow 28 Fantasy ppg and gave up 24 points last week to Ronald Jones. David Johnson's touches have increased through every week of the season and last week he attempted 19 rushes to go along with his touchdown. This is a great match up for Johnson and is a definite start for your Fantasy football team.

Ronald Jones

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Las Vegas Raiders

I had Jones as a start 'em last week and he did not disappoint scoring 24 Fantasy points in a game where he went over 100 yards and scored 2 rushing touchdowns. Once again Jones is a great choice to start as he goes up against the Raiders who give up the 3rd most points per game to running backs, averaging 26.6 points. I would expect Jones to carry over his great form from the Green Bay game, as he continues to cement himself as the number 1 running back in Tampa Bay.

Phillip Lindsay

Denver Broncos vs Kansas City Chiefs

The undrafted star’s return to fitness has come at the perfect time for Denver as their other running back Melvin Gordon missed the week 6 win against New England though injury and remains questionable for this week. In the win against New England, Lindsay carried the ball 23 times and rushed for over 100 yards and even if Gordon plays this week, he will be sharing snaps with Lindsay. The Chiefs rank the as the 3rd worst team in the NFL against the rush, allowing 145 rushing yards per game, this could be yet another solid start for Lindsay as the Broncos look to follow up their impressive win they had against New England.

Sit 'em:

Joe Mixon

Cincinnati Bengals vs Cleveland Browns

Joe Mixon is the number 9 ranked running back this season, however that number is highly deceptive. Mixon had a huge game in week 4 against the Jaguars, where he scored 36 Fantasy points, but other than that one game he has been below average. In 5 of his 7 games this season, Mixon has scored single digit Fantasy points and has been playing while injured for the past few weeks. The Browns allow the 4th fewest rushing yards per game out of all teams in the NFL with an impressive 94 ypg, I would leave Mixon on the sideline of your Fantasy team this week.

Kenyan Drake

Arizona Cardinals vs Seattle Seahawks

He had a career day on national television against the Cowboys, however I don't think that this week’s game is one to start Kenyan Drake in. The Cowboys defense last week was awful – Kyler Murray completed 9 passes and they still won by 28 points. This week however Drake faces the Seahawks who only allow 100 rushing yards per game and only 16 Fantasy points to the running back position. The Seahawks are last in the NFL in passing yards allowed per game with 370, all this means is that if the Cardinals want to win this Football game, they're going to be forced to do it in the passing game.
