Fantasy Football Week 5 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Wide Receivers

By Matthew Brosnan.

Start 'em:

Will Fuller V

Houston Texans vs Jacksonville Jaguars

Fresh off his biggest Fantasy football performance of the season in week 4 against the Vikings (17 points and over 100 yards receiving). The Texans face a very lacklustre secondary this week and expect Fuller to have a huge game in the air. Fuller is one of the fastest receivers in the league bosting a 4.33 40-yard time. Expect Watson to let the deep ball fly this week and Fuller should be the beneficiary of that.

T.Y. Hilton

Indianapolis Colts @ Cleveland Browns

In my opinion the Colts star receiver has been the most underwhelming Fantasy football player of the whole season to date. He is yet to score double digit points on the season and yet to muster up a single touchdown. However, do not let all this put you off giving him one more start, he has a favourable match up against the Browns who rank 30th in the NFL in passing yards allowed. By his own admission Hilton knows he has underperformed this year, stating he expects a bounce back game in week 5. Since he entered the league, he has been an excellent route runner and a threat on the deep pass, don't give up on the Colts star man just yet.

Cooper Kupp

Los Angeles Rams @ Washington Football Team

After a mediocre start to his Fantasy season the newly paid star receiver seems to be finding his groove. The Rams have really struggled passing the ball this season and are not racking up a lot of offensive yards per game this season. They recorded under 300 total yards against the Giants in week 4 but still won and Kupp still had a nice game for Fantasy owners, scoring a touchdown and gaining 69 yards. I think the Rams lacklustre start on offence is down to their lack of a pre-season and McVay should have his offense and star receiver ready to roll here in week 5 against Washington.

Sit 'em:

Jamison Crowder

New York Jets vs Arizona Cardinals

Crowder is undeniably the best wide receiver on the Jets roster and with Le'Veon Bell still suffering with an injury, he is arguably their best offensive player. The Jets are coming up against one of the better secondaries in the NFL and are coming into this game with their back up QB in Joe Flacco. We have not really seen a good Joe Flacco in a number of years so I would not expect big production from Crowder this week against Vance Joseph's defence, who knows Flacco well from his time coaching the Broncos.

Marquise Brown

Baltimore Ravens vs Cincinnati Bengals

Lamar Jackson loves his tight end, and that love has taken away points from the Ravens wide receivers all season. Brown has yet to hit the heights we all expected of him after a tremendous rookie season and I do not see the game plan changing this week to get him the ball more often. Brown is carrying a knock already coming into this game, so expect the Ravens to keep running the football and looking for Mark Andrews this week so leave Hollywood on the bench this week.

Terry McLaurin

Washington Football Team vs LA Rams

I love Terry McLaurin and I think that he is going to be a star in this league for many years to come. However, I do not think this is a game to be starting him. McLaurin is a physical receiver, and he is coming up against Jalen Ramsey this week which could be a bad match up. Washington are starting back up QB Kyle Allen who has not started this season in the NFL this season and will be playing against that Rams defensive line, meaning that I do not think he is going to be able to sit and wait for the star receiver to create separation from one of the league’s best defensive backs.
