Fantasy Football Week 5 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Quarterbacks

Start 'em:

Teddy Bridgewater

Carolina Panthers @ Atlanta Falcons

In week 4, Teddy had his best week in Fantasy Football, scoring 27 points which included three touchdowns. This week he comes up against the much inferior Falcons defense who rank 31st in the NFL in passing yards allowed, giving up 342ypg. Matt Rhule seems to be trusting Bridgewater's arm more each game and with Robby Anderson and a whole heap of speed out wide, expect Bridgewater and the Panthers to have a big game.

Kirk Cousins

Minnesota Vikings @ Seattle Seahawks

Cousins has been massively underwhelming for Fantasy owners this season (25th ranked fantasy QB), even scoring negative points in the week 2 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. However this week he comes up against the worst ranked defense in the NFL against the pass in the Seattle Seahawks. Seattle allow an NFL leading 401 yards per game against the pass and there hasn't been any real signs of improvement. The Vikings got their first win of the season in week 4 and they look to have found Stefon Diggs' replacement in Justin Jefferson. This means Cousins has two elite wide receivers and a reliable tight end, he should have his best Fantasy game of the season this week and I highly recommend giving him the start.

Deshaun Watson

Houston Texans vs Jacksonville Jaguars

With Houston recently firing head coach Bill O'Brien the word on every Texans players lips has been “fun”. This indicates the Texans will finally come out of their shell and let Watson air the ball out downfield. The Texans have played highly conservative this season, with very few passes of more than 20 yards, and with Cooks and Fuller out wide this has surprised many. In spite of all of this Watson is still the 13th ranked Fantasy QB and I think week 5 against the Jaguars they will really let him loose. The Jaguars defense ranks 26th against the pass in the NFL and with the Texans hoping for a big bounce back game to really start their season, I'd expect big points from the former National Champion.

Sit 'em:

Gardner Minshew

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Houston Texans

The Texans defense this season ranks 5th in the NFL in yards allowed against the pass per game with a very impressive number of 211ypg. JJ Watt and DC Anthony Weaver were the reported parties behind the team losing patience with former head Coach Bill O'Brien. So expect the Texans defence to come out and make a statement this week and get after Minshew and the Jaguars.

Jared Goff

Los Angeles Rams @ Washington Football Team

In week 4 Goff had a very favourable match up against the New York Giants and he did not deliver. Scoring only 11 Fantasy points last week and with a much harder match up against Washington this week, I would leave Goff on the bench. Washington's benching of Haskins showed everyone that they believe they have a realistic shot at the division and that will only be motivation for what is already an elite defence. Washington's D ranks 4th in the NFL in passing YPG conceded and with McVay's insistence of running the football in the redzone, there shouldn't be a lot of points available for the QB this week.

Baker Mayfield

Cleveland Browns vs Indianapolis Colts

This is the easiest Fantasy decision of the week. The Brown's put up 49 points in week 4, however they rushed for over 300 yards and that has to be the exact game plan they deploy here in week 5. The Colts lead the NFL in allowing only an incredible 159YPG against the pass. The Colts defense is on course for a historic season and the Browns will have to lean heavily on running backs Kareem Hunt and D'Ernest Johnson if they have any shot to score points here. The Browns have found their identify and that is a run first football team.
